Rosalia alpina (Linnaeus, 1758)
Family: Cerambycidae
Subfamily: Cerambycinae
Tribe: Rosalini.
Distribution: Europe - extirpated in parts, listed as endangered or protected in others.

    Very nice - you're quite talented!

    I saw one of these this summer in the French Pyrennes just north of the Spanish border - a very impressive insect. It really pained me to watch it fly away, but I promised my travel mate that I wouldn't collect it.

    They are impressive, though I've never seen a live one. It is one of my favorite species of beetle, actually, the whole genus - as far as Cerams go anyway.

    I am slowly getting reacquainted with my watercolor kit.
